About the Sydney Opera House
The Sydney Opera House was designed by Jørn Utzon and completed in 1973. It
stands as a symbol of architectural innovation and Australia’s creative spirit. Located on
Bennelong Point, (known to the Gadigal people as Tubowgule), the Opera House looks
out over the thriving marine ecosystem of Sydney Harbour.
The harbour is home to diverse marine life, including sharks, seals, dolphins, and more
fish species than the Mediterranean Sea. Important conservation efforts are underway
to protect this sensitive environment. Thanks to your support, Sydney is setting an
example of humans coexisting with the diversity of life found in its waters.
